Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano Test Drive 2009
Maranello and Fiorano Circuit, Italy - 6/7th October 2009
The Car
The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano is a concentration of Ferrari's most innovative and technologically advanced engineering solutions applied to a mid-front engined two-seater coupé. The result is a new benchmark for performance, driver involvement and design. The car boasts class-leading power thanks to its 5,999cc V12 - derived directly from the Ferrari Enzo supercar - which produces no less than 620hp at 7,600 rpm for a weight/power ratio of just 2.6 kg per horsepower.
Ferrari has adopted the latest evolution in its tried and tested all-aluminium construction technology for the body and chassis. The unmistakable Pininfarina design gives the Ferrari 559 GTB Fiorano aggressive yet elegant lines which are perfectly integrated with the advanced aerodynamic solutions adopted to reach the performance figures attainable.
This model is the symbol of Ferrari's production - the V12 berlinetta - and represents the latest interpretation of a theme that has seen such classics as the Ferrari 250 GT, the Ferrari 275 GTB, and the Ferrari 365 GTB4. The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano replaces the last in that great line of berlinettas, the 575M Maranello, of which - together with the 550 Maranello introduced in 1996 - no fewer than 5,700 have been produced, a record for this type of model for the Prancing Horse.
The Location: Ferrari Factory and Fiorano Circuit.
The Maranello complex houses not only the President and other executive offices, but also all of the GT and Formula 1 design and production areas (apart from the chassis and bodywork areas which are to be found at the Carozzeria Scagliettiin Modena which belongs to Ferrari). The philosophy behind the creation of Ferrari's newly renovated production areas meant that the buildings and their functions were designed with the needs of the employees in mind.
This philosophy became known as Formula Uomo. In fact, the newly renovated Ferrari complex now combines carefully designed lighting systems, green and restaurant areas, climate control, noise damping, and special measures aimed at reducing environmental impact, with advanced technologies. The Ferrari complex was specifically designed to architecturally reinforce the synergic relationship between work and results.
The Fiorano Circuit was built near the factory in 1972. The original circuit, which can still be used, was 2,948.5 metres long. In 1996, a new bend was added to make it faster and more suitable for modern single seaters. This new bend lengthened the track by a further 27.91 metres to 2,976.41 metres. The Fiorano Circuit is located closed to the Ferrari Factory in Maranello and it is used as a test and development track by Ferrari for both its F1 and GT cars.

The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano Test Drive and Tour.
It is broken down into an intensive and successful programme of driving experience with dedicated driver instruction team from Pilota Ferrari School. This team is made up of highly qualified, expert drivers with professional training in high performance car driving.
The internationally experienced driver-instructors also currently drive professionally themselves.
The programme is divided into two different sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, where the guests will experience the 599 GTB Fiorano performance driving on the circuit and on the road around Maranello and Modena.
Driving itinerary.
The driving itinerary has been designed especially to enhance the characteristics of the 599 Fiorano.
The itinerary offers drivers the chance to "savor" the power of the 12 cylinder Ferrari on stretches in total safety. Despite the large size of the car, you will discover its surprising manageability.
The itinerary has straight stretches alternated with fast mixed ones, as well as hilly sections with steep inclines and hairpin curves.
Starting from the FioranoCircuit, we will drive up the Via Nuova Estense in the direction of Serramazzoni. The road is on a gentle rise alternating with straight stretches and fast wide pitched curves, excellent for boasting the power of the 12 cylinder engine. After about 15 km we get off the Nuova Estense and ascend toward Serramazzoni, where we find a mixed stretch. Here you will realize the excellent chassis features and the car's roadability. As we continue our trip to Maranello, we maneuver a downhill stretch that alternates mixed fast parts with tight hairpin curves. After arriving in Maranello, we go to the Fiorano Racetrack on a straight flat stretch.
Length of itinerary 30-40 Km.

Programme Options for non-driving Guests
Visit to Hosteria Giusti, in Modena City.

The oldest delicatessen in Europe is located in the center of Modena, in Via Farini. It opened in 1605 and its name is la Premiata Salumeria Giusti. In the olden times it served great historical figures, such as Duke Cesare d’Este of the Estense family and Gioacchino Rossini; today it is visited by personages who come from all over the world to taste and discover the flavors and traditions of the distant past. You can go from the Salumeriato the tavern [Hosteria] which has only four tables and then check out the Bottiglieria which conserves the best of Italian wines and Champagnes, as well as the most coveted wines in the world. Your next stop should be the Boutique Giusti where you will find top-quality items, such as fine linen tablecloths, precious cutlery, Schedoni leather goods and Riedel glasses which are famous worldwide. Gourmet critic Alan Richman judged the Hosteria Giusti as one of the seven best restaurants in the world. We like it because Laura, with her son Matteo and her daughter Cecilia, work with passion to pass down the tradition: they are hospitable, they select the best for us and know how to make us feel good.

Strong roots and a tradition that is more alive than ever. The history of the Schedoni trademark is the history of a family that for over 120 years has been making valuable leather goods. This dynasty has succeeded in passing down a craft that over the centuries has become an art: leather goods, apparel, accessories, all top quality and strictly handmade. In 1976 the Schedoni family started collaborating with Ferrari SpA.
This joint venture is more than just a project with another company. First and foremost it is the thrill of working with a man of extraordinary charisma, both in his professional and personal life: EnzoFerrari.
In 1977 Schedoni designed and made the first set of customized suitcases for the gorgeous 308 GTB. Since then Schedonihas been the official producer of leather goods and articles bearing the Ferrari label. In 1983 the company also started collaborating with the Ferrari Formula Uno Team to upholster the seats of the Maranellorace cars.
